Charlie's Terrance Cafe

Charlie’s Terrance Café is a not as well known coffee shop that’s really close by. It’s a smaller coffee shop with a lot of outdoor seating which is ok if the weather is nice. But the coffee is not as good as other places which was disappointing because the smell inside is amazing but the coffee or the way they make it just seems to taste more bland. The price is just as expensive as any other coffee house which is ok if it tasted better but 4 dollars for a coffee that makes you wish for a Starbucks. They had their own personal wireless internet and "It is also a nice place to hang out and kill time before your next class. Plug-ins are limited for you laptop users"(http://www.yelp.com/biz/charlies-terrace-cafe-tempe). So you can just drop by sit in the nice chairs they have make yourself comfortable and relax. It also did not have a lot of variety which could be expected of a small coffee house but I don’t like when there really isn’t a variety of different things to try. But the people who worked there were very kind and nice just the coffee could taste better.

Cartel Coffee Lab

Cartel coffee lab while it has an unusual name is actually quite a good coffee house the people are friendly and the place is laid out in a calm cool matter. The coffee is very tasty and flavorful almost good enough that I could drink it black
I am not the only one who feels like this a review of the Cartel Coffee Lab could not of said it better when he wrote "I can say with certainty that this is the best coffee in Phoenix. It's up there with some of the best coffee in San Francisco"(http://www.wanderfly.com/#!travel/united-states/tempe/cartel-coffee-lab). It’s usually pretty crowded so enough people know about it but when I asked people for their opinions and look up reviews online I found that they were rated very highly because their coffee was delicious. The price though is higher than Starbucks so that’s why I won’t be in a hurry to go back, to pay more for something that is out of the way. The shop had free wireless internet with comfortable couches to sit on so that was a major plus because it made it feel like more of a lounge. Lastly the variety was exceptional, they had many drinks that I’ve never had before or even seen before, so this place I do highly recommend if you want a comfortable coffee house where you sit and relax and work on your laptop.

Starbucks

Starbucks is one of the largest if not the largest coffee company in the world. But their success was no accident. Starbucks now is a household name and every time I go to Starbucks whether it’s the one by my house in San Diego or the one right outside my building, the coffee is always tastes delicious for many years now this is because they have a great "supply of the high-quality beans we’ve been carefully blending, roasting and packing fresh for more than 40 years"(http://www.starbucks.com/responsibility/sourcing/coffee). While I’m not a fan of their recent price hikes I am still a loyal Starbucks coffee drinker because the cost now is about the same anywhere, so when me and millions of people are tired in the morning or have to stay up late at night Starbucks is typically where a majority of people go because they are comfortable with that brand. Every Starbucks has wireless internet but again this particular Starbucks is still on campus so ASU’s wireless internet is what every building on campus has access to. Finally I love the selection that Starbucks provides allowing me to explore with a variety of options from all the classics to the special seasonal flavors they sell on the holidays.

Cafe Biblioteca

Café Biblioteca is a small coffee shop that located right on campus in a convenient location that’s right outside Hayden library. From my own personal research and looking what other customer had to say Café Biblioteca sells great "gourmet private-labeled specialty coffee and coffee accessories with full-color custom designs"(http://www.cafebiblioteca.com/) and even has good food as well. When several people were asked to rate the Café’s coffee and several people all said the Café Biblioteca sold a great cup of fresh coffee that I have enjoyed a number of times. Next is the price, most of the complaining reviews about Café Biblioteca are that their coffee and food are a little over priced but they take M&G dollars which might be why they are  usually so crowded. Since the café is on ASU campus the whole school already has an internet connection. The drawback of this place is that it does not have the variety of choice like Starbucks but you can get a great bite to eat before or after working in the library. But it’s going to cost you a little more is your not paying with M&G about 25 cents more if the purchase is under five dollars which is below the typical price of a cup of coffee so little things like that are disappointing.

Introduction

It’s an empire that spans all over the world, but here in America it has an incredibly strong hold over the millions of people that depend on it as a source of energy to get things done when their body wouldn’t be normally able to do. This source of energy is coffee, and it’s a huge enterprise here in America and here at ASU is no different. ASU offers a variety of food and drinks, but offers an extensive variety of coffee shops. To accommodate the large diverse population there is a multitude of different options to accommodate anyone’s taste and preference. But there are things that make certain coffee shops better than others. Of all the criteria that could matter about a coffee shop there are four certain things that really matter when saying what coffee shop is better than one another. The first and arguably the most important criteria for any coffee place is how good or the taste of their coffee, coffee that is better than the competition will almost always be successful because so many people depend on it, even as the price of coffee has gone up substantially the coffee business hasn’t taken any hit from the price increase.   This again refers to the millions of people that depend on it because even though the price has gone up there is no equivalent to a quick cup of coffee to get you going in the morning and people will go out of their way to get something that’s quick and tastes great. The second criteria refers to the cost of the coffee it’s not as important as taste but when there is a variety of different coffee house’s price really does matter especially here at school the price of coffee for a college student means everything because most college students live on a budget so price can decide where everyone goes for their coffee. The next important thing a coffee house much has is Wi-Fi internet access while it’s not a big deal for the coffee houses on campus but for the coffee houses off campus having wireless internet is why a large portion of customers go to coffee houses so that they would be able to access the internet and drink coffee whenever they need more. Having wireless internet isn’t everything about a coffee place but in a world where technology rules having the convenience of being in a place where you can connect to the internet and drink coffee is very important in attracting a wide variety of customers.  The last factor for my criteria is the variety of options the coffee house has available for its customers, this is another very important factor because having a variety is what attracts a lot of people, because people want lots of options because people all prefer different things based on their own independent taste so having a extensive list of options is what can attract people with different and unique taste, and when all coffee companies sell pretty much the same thing having more options and flavors can be the difference between success and failure. These four factors cover the most important things that decide what coffee houses are better than others based on the whole experience of going into a coffee shop the taste reflects the work put into to having good fresh coffee every day, the cost reflects how much of the increased price of coffee beans the store puts on it customers, having wireless internet shows how much the coffee house cares about its customers convenience and lastly variety displays how the coffee shop will provide different options for each individual customer.
